Why are some of my images not matching with my products when using Partial Match?
The Partial Match feature works by looking for specific parts of the product title within the image file name. However, matching depends on how your images are named and how your settings are configured. This guide explains how Partial Match works and how to adjust your image names for the best results.
How Partial Match Works
When Partial Match is enabled, the system compares keywords from the product title with the file name of your image. If a matching part is found, the image is assigned to the product.
Example scenario:
If your product name is "Luxury Leather Office Chair - Model X500" and your image is named "X500.jpg," you should specify the following configuration under Apps > PicManager > Settings:
As a result, the image will be matched to the corresponding product:
Ensure these settings are correctly configured to align the product name with the image file name. If you've set the configuration according to the example above, and are still experiencing issues, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Troubleshooting
1) If your images aren't correctly matching the products, ensure that the image name exactly matches a part of the product name. Here are some examples of possible naming issues:
Incorrect name | Correct name | Why? |
X500-Black-Leather.jpg | X500.jpg | Directly matches a part of the product name. |
LuxuryChair-Leather.jpg | Luxury Leather Office Chair.jpg | Uses keywords from the product title. |
X500-Leather-Black-Office.jpg | Office Chair.jpg | Keeps relevant product keywords. |
2) Avoid extra characters that can prevent matching, like "#", "_" or "-" - these symbols can be considered as separators.3) Use a Simple Naming Format & Test First:
- If your product title is "Elegant Sofa Set - Model S200", name your image "S200.jpg" or "Elegant-Sofa.jpg".
- If you use bulk uploads, test 5-10 images first to ensure they are matched correctly before uploading everything.
By following these guidelines, you’ll improve the accuracy of image assignments and avoid mismatches. In case you've reviewed the points above and are still encountering issues, we suggest you also consider some additional steps for successful image uploading & matching.
