We needed to send emails via an SMTP server to make sure that our customers get every email, so we decided to try the Amasty extension. We have the basic settings. It's configured to use our transactional email server, so Magento sends all emails through it.

SMTP Email Settings helped us make sure all emails were coming from the same server. This module handles all the 'Thank you for your order', order shipment and invoice emails.
