Our website currently operates with a Flat Catalogue setup on both categories and products, and this is no longer best practice according to Magento setup information

our site is slowing as we have grown the catalogue as we now have hundreds (if not more) of index tables

do Amasty extensions work if the setting is set to "NO" - ie the website will no longer be using a Flat setup, or do the extensions require our site to use a flat catalogue

magento states that "some" extensions need the flat catalogue type but they have no info on any specifics and recommend speaking to extension developer, which is why im here
